Santa Maria Della Salute

by
In my last post, I mentioned to show you more of this church called Santa Maria Della Salute. It’s a beautiful church and a definite must-visit if you’re in Venice. It is situated at the entrance of the Grand Canal. This church was built in 1630. Due to a plague that was so severe, the Senate promised to build a church in celebration of the VIrgin if she could save the city. Within weeks, the plague subsided and on 1st April the following year, the first stone of the Salute, which means health and salvation in Italian was laid.

After visiting Santa Maria Della Salute, we walked further up to the edge of the Grand Canal and visited a museum called Punta Della Dogana. It is an exhibition hall filled with many interesting exhibits =)
A room filled with fluorescent lights
My photographer was inspired by a Matrix scene I suppose =D
Walked to the famous Rialto Bridge.
Sunset on Rialto Bridge. It’s breathtaking =)
Even though it’s fall weather and it’s cold, eating gelato is a must when visiting Italy.
We went to this place called Lineadombra for lunch and they serve really good food. Highly recommended if you want some good fine dining in Venice. The restaurant is located behind Punta Della Dogana.
Such great view while having lunch. What a day =)

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Venice adventure so far. You can view some of my previous post on Venice here. Wishing you a great weekend.
