A New Start

by
Bonjour Paris!! We arrived in the wee hour and it’s cold! Maybe I’m still adjusting to the sudden change in weather. We got our luggage and caught a cab to our new temporary home. It took us almost 2 hours to arrive in Paris!! We spent like Euro86 (RM360/USD107) just on the blardy taxi ride due to a massive jam!! Next time, we’ll take a train and metro to town instead.
What I thought was a bad start turned out to be pretty smooth after we arrived at our new home. Our home agent went through the inventories and we’re just glad that this new place is very cozy and located in a great neighbourhood. Thank God this apartment has a tiny-ass, but functional elevator and we don’t need to lug those bags up the stairs.

Our neighbourhood’s great! Grocery store, metro, café, fruit stores, pharmacies, bakery and butchers are just around the corner. It’s always great to have these basic necessities around as we’ll need them almost every day. I would need to adjust to the newness and be conscious that I’m now out of my comfort zone. There will be no cars to drive, make new friends, learn to speak French and have to stop converting Euros to Ringgit Malaysia.

We walked around our neighbourhood and went to a mobile service company, ORANGE to get my new French phone number set up. Oh, and we stay above this butcher that has his oven out with rotisserie chickens in it all the time. The aroma was so good that we have to buy one for dinner that same night. *sucker* Well, it has been a long day. So, we shall get a good night’s rest tonight and catch the fresh Parisian air tomorrow =)
