Foodie Review – Across The Road

by

Q: Where are you going for dinner tonight?

A: Across The Road.
Pretty ingenious to name a restaurant Across The Road don’t you think? Am I turning into a foodie blogger now? No, but I would never say no to food tasting if being invited. I was there with the Vibehero team to enjoy company, food and environment, and now to pen down my opinion.

A cozy bar area

Vibehero team and us, the bloggers!
Menu of the night
I’m so hungry by now and I can eat the whole plate but I kept reminding myself I really should be sharing =D
Entree: Caramelized Onion & Goat Cheese Tartlets
Both the sweetness and saltiness were well balanced. I’m not a cheese person but I find this comfortable enough to eat without a pungent cheesy taste.
Entree: Mushroom Bruchetta
This is the 2nd favourite dish for me through the night. I will share my favourite dish later. I totally melted just like the cheese on the bread. It’s so easy to eat and I find this a great combination comparing to the usual tomato-on-top Bruchetta.
Starters: Salmon Broth with Prawn Dumpling & Caviar
This dish has a little eastern influence in it. Probably all of us bloggers would love to take pictures first and wait till we had our pictures perfected before we started eating this dish. By then, I find the dumpling a little too soggy for my liking. The Salmon Broth definitely need to be consumed warm to hot. Once it cools down, the fishy taste isn’t too appetizing for me.
Starters: Beef Roll Salad With Balsamic
Well balance of carbs and meat. The beef was perfectly done. Tender and moist. I think this is a great meal for someone who’s a weight watcher.
Mains: Home Made Vegetable Lasagna
Well, I’m not too fond of vegetarian food but I must say this lasagna is pretty light and not too cheesy.
Mains: Cheese Stuffed Beef Burger with 3x Cooked Chunky Chips
If I were to go back to this restaurant, I would definitely order this and the Mushroom Bruchetta! This goes down as my favourite pick for the night. When you take a bite on this, the succulent cheese stuffed beef just makes you keep wanting more and more. The extra coleslaw on the salad makes me very happy. I love coleslaw and this combo makes the vegetable taste better.
Mains: Chicken Breast Stuffed with Prawn Mousse & Yorkshire Pudding with Wild Mushroom, Mixed Herbs & Shallot Sauce
The shallot sauce is yummy when poured on the chicken breast with prawn mousse. I think there’s too much to eat on this plate. Although, it sure did trickled all my taste buds. The Yorkshire Pudding was unique to be added into this dish.
Mains: Sea Bass Rolled With Young Asparagus, Cheese Risotto & Spicy Seafood Broth
Delicious! The Sea Bass was perfectly done without being too hard and the young asparagus was easy-going together with the bass. The portion of the risotto was just enough and it wasn’t too soggy either.
Dessert: Blueberry Cheesecake
It lean towards the sour side a lot more than I like it to be. I would prefer it to be sweeter.
Dessert: Non-Alcoholic Tiramisu
This is the chef’s award winning Tiramisu. The chef that made this is the only chef in Malaysia that had won an award in the culinary competition in France for making a non-alcoholic Tiramisu. This is definitely suitable for kids and non-alcoholic diners. I’m not an alcoholic but I would prefer that slight bitterness from alcohol in my Tiramisu.
Thanks Christian (left), for having us at your restaurant and the wonderful chefs for making the scrumptious food that warmed our tummy for the night.
