Lunar New Year 2021

Lunar New Year 2021

Lunar New Year 2021 was sure different from any other years I’ve celebrated. Just like the last Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year, it’s quiet and not too festive. Nevertheless, I still celebrated it, in my own way.

This too shall pass…

My Lunar New Year necessities!

Due to the distance and pandemic limitations, this will go down in history to be the 1st where I didn’t get the chance to celebrate it with my immediate family. Usually we will have our reunion dinner on Lunar New Year’s eve. Then we will chat through the night. On the next morning, it’s the usual ritual, where we will eat, chat some more and red packets (with money in it) will be given by my parents as blessings for the year to come.

Well, since this year’s different, hubby and I just stayed home and we FaceTimed the folks to wish them virtually. We still chatted and laughed. That hasn’t changed.

The situation might be different but we don’t have to be. I still believe that it is a day for celebration and therefore, I shall put effort in dressing up and look presentable. As you can see, the mall was very much empty, which was a great opportunity to take some amazing pictures.

5 REASONS I PICKED THIS OOTD

When it comes to festive attires, there are a few reasons why I picked a particular outfit to wear. Here are 5 reasons why I picked this #OOTD by Khoon Hooi:

1. Limitless – which means I can wear this all year round and not just on Lunar New Year. I can wear this to a wedding ceremony, Birthday party or even just attending a Zoom meeting.

2. Comfortable – I like a dress that’s comfortable. From the fabric to the cut, it has to be mobile and comfortable.

3. Color – Orange or Vermilion is a cheerful and lively color. Wearing it makes me feel energetic and warm. Don’t you think it makes me look like a warm person? *big grin*

4. Style – Modern yet classic. I love this combination. My believe has always been to invest in everlasting styles. I appreciate brands that keep their core designs and not vary too far-off, just to keep up with the latest fashion trends.

5. Support a local designer – It is a tough time for the fashion industry now. Many fashion designers in general, are facing this tough time where orders are a whole lot less than before. There are no big scale weddings, no balls and events and no festivity gatherings in general. Hence, their business suffered. If I were to invest in a dressy outfit, I would try to support a local designer. I’ve been a big fan of Khoon Hooi for many years.

I believe this too, shall pass. Pandemic or not, you just have to do the best you can to stay healthy and positive. Usually on Lunar New Year, we greet others with well wishes.
