Nano Whitewash Dental Care

One thing I’ve never shared before on Diva In Me is dental care. I’ve never put much thought about it as it’s not a common thing to discuss about. Little did I know, it can play such a huge part in our lifestyle.

Imagine smiling with yellow stained teeth? Or when talking to a potential clientele and having bad breath? I don’t think the thought itself is appealing, don’t you think?

Hence, I’m going to share with you a dental care brand from UK called Nano Whitewash. Nano Whitewash dental care has quite a complete home care range and I’m going to share my 2 cents worth of the few items I’ve tried.

WHAT CAUSES TOOTH SENSITIVITY?

Before I get into Nano Whitewash products, let me get into some of the common dental issues first – tooth sensitivity and bleeding gums. Then it’ll make more sense as to why Nano Whitewash products will be able to help you with these issues and eventually prevent it from happening.

Below is a picture of a normal tooth in comparison with a sensitive tooth.

Normal tooth vs Sensitive tooth

Tooth sensitivity occurs when dentin becomes exposed from receding gum tissue. So now that the roots are exposed, it allows all the hot, cold or sweet food to reach the nerve, resulting in that sharp pain or sensitivity you feel.

Some factors¹ that causes sensitivity to our teeth are:

  • Brushing too hard or using hard bristled toothbrush over time can wear down enamel and causes dentin to be exposed.
  • Inflamed and sore gum tissue may cause sensitivity because of the loss of supporting ligaments.
  • Tooth whitening products or toothpaste with baking soda and peroxide.
  • Using mouthwash that contains acid over a long period of time.
  • Plague build-up on the root surfaces can cause sensitivity.

WHY DO GUMS BLEED AFTER BRUSH?

Healthy gums & tooth (left) VS Inflamed gums & poorly managed tooth (right)

Bleeding gums or in scientific term called Gingivitis, is caused by bacteria built-up. Naturally within 24 hours, these bacteria in our mouth will form a layer of plaque on your teeth, which is invisible to our eyes. If we don’t brush our teeth by using effective oral hygiene regime at home then plaque  will develop into calculus².

Once calculus formed, there will be further symptoms such as gums inflammation. That’s when you might experience bleeding gums when brushing your teeth! Just like the picture* above. Another symptom of Gingivitis is bad breath. A big no-no if you’re going out for a date night!

Hence, using the right dental care at home is so important. Bacteria should be under controlled and if you are experiencing Gingivitis, you wouldn’t want it to worsen it and had to experience a more serious condition, such as, tooth decay.

Using the right dental care at home is so important.

The Nano Range of dental cosmetics from WhiteWash Laboratories has been expertly developed by UK dentists and uses specially selected ingredients that are backed by science.

Nano Whitewash uses Enamel Care Technology© as a key ingredient which helps to whiten & remineralise teeth and prevent sensitivity. Other key ingredients include potassium nitrate to prevent tooth sensitivity, fluoride to remineralise teeth and xylitol to inhibit the growth of bacteria which prevents acid attacks.

All Nano Range products are SLS free, Alcohol free, Paraben free, Triclosan free, PEG free and Acid neutralizing.

Here are a few items which I’ve tried and would love to share my thoughts.

 INTENSIVE WHITENING TOOTHPASTE

I believe this would be the most expensive toothpaste I’ve paid for, which surpassed Marvis. I also must be honest with you that, at first, I’m really not used to the texture and taste of Nano Whitening Toothpaste. It has a slight sweet aftertaste due to the Xylitol.

Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alternative and they don’t harm teeth like sugar. It’s proven to actively reduce plaque and risk of tooth decay.

Intensive Whitening Toothpaste does not foam up like your regular drugstore toothpaste brands. I don’t need to use a lot. I just have to make sure I even it out all over my teeth before brushing. I do like that for a whitening toothpaste, it doesn’t leave this baking soda texture after-rinse.

NANO TOOTHBRUSH & WHITENING TOOTHBRUSH

After trying both Nano regular toothbrush and Whitening Toothbrush, I like the Whitening Toothbrush more. If you like softer bristle, you’d probably enjoy the Nano Toothbrush more. Maybe I brushed too hard and it made my gum bleed.

When I tried the Whitening Toothbrush, I like the bristle better. It’s thicker and more of a medium brush texture. I brushed it a lot slower and gentler after my first encounter with the Nano Toothbrush. This time around, there’s no bleeding gum.

It could also be due to using the Intensive Whitening Toothpaste and my mouth has much lesser plaque and stronger gum and teeth.

NANO SONIC WHITENING TOOTHRUSH

Nano Sonic Whitening Electric Toothbrush Set

If anything at all, I believe anyone, who is looking into investing in an electrical toothbrush, should invest in this one. One of the best out there and still under-exposed, so it’s still reasonably priced.

Nano Sonic Whitening Toothbrush is priced at RM599 and in comparison to Phillips Sonicare DiamondClean (RM942), and to Oral B Genius (RM800+), it has a lot more to offer. This whole set comes with:

  1. 4 high quality brush heads
  2. Base charging unit & rechargeable batteries
  3. Travel case
  4. 3 Brushing Modes – Clean | Whiten | Massage
  5. 2 Minute Auto-Timer
  6. 30 Second Interval Timer

I’m kind of addicted to this one now and find brushing teeth so much easier. It’s actually cleaner to brush your teeth with an electric toothbrush.

NANO WHITENING MOUTHWASH

You must be wondering if I’m out of my mind to buy a 300ml bottle of mouthwash for RM65, where you are able to purchase a 750ml bottle at a drugstore for RM15! I can safely say that no, I’m not that crazy to just throw away so much money for a bottle of mouthwash without doing my homework.

The usual mouthwash that is available at drugstores contain these 4 ingredients which, using it long term, will be harmful to our health.

  • Alcohol –  It destroys both the good bacteria as well as the bad and it’s actually drying.
  • Fluoride – Flouride is also used as an insecticide and in more concentrated doses is poisonous to humans. Long-term exposure to fluoride can lead to health problems
  • SLS – Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a synthetic chemical and frothing agent, to create a lather effect. There’s no proof that it makes the teeth cleaner.
  • Sodium Saccharin – It’s a commonly used sweetener that is used as a sugar substitute because it doesn’t contain any calories. There were studies that shown a long term usage of Sodium Saccharin was linked to bladder cancer in animals and has been banned in the US.

Now, let’s not panic just yet if you’re currently using a regular drugstore brand mouthwash. Just stop using it and start looking into Nano Whitening Mouthwash.

Why is Nano Whitening Mouthwash different from those regular brands? That’s because their ingredients are safe and these are the ingredients used in comparison to the regular brands:

  • Hydroxyapatite – To whiten and remineralize the teeth.
  • Xylitol – A natural sugar alternative. It is used to inhibit the growth of bacteria which prevents acid attacks.
  • Free of – SLS, Alcohol, Parabens, Triclosan and PEG.

Also, you only need 10ml each time to gargle you mouth for a minute instead of a whole cap-full. It might be pricier, but it gives you a peace of mind knowing that you are safe from harmful materials.

NANO FLOSS

Many of us does not have the habit of flossing after brushing or even after a meal. There are many benefits from flossing. Doing so removes plaque that’s stuck in between our teeth and reduces bacteria growth, which will eventually reduce bad breath.

After trying both Nano Anti-Stain Floss and Nano Micro Riser Floss, I don’t find there’s much of a difference between the two. The only difference is probably the size. Nano Micro Riser Floss is thicker and I believe it’s better for those who have a bigger gap in between their teeth. Also, Nano Micro Riser Floss has a minty after-taste.

NANO INTENSIVE WHITENING STRIPS

Nano Intensive Whitening Strips

The Nano Intensive Teeth Whitening Strips contain 14 sets of 2 strips in each packet, and it’s meant to whiten your enamel. It’s a two-week whitening course for you to do it at the comfort of your own home without going to the dentist.

I was quite skeptical at first when I started using it. I didn’t think much of it besides it being quite a hassle to have to wait for 30 minutes before I can take the strip off. Do brush your teeth after stripping it off.

At first, it’s quite uncomfortable because there was a foreign object in my mouth. Swallowing weird tasted saliva isn’t a favorite either.

Progression from using the strips for 14 days.

However, after 10 days and documenting it through pictures (as shown above), I can see the changes in color! My teeth is slightly yellow from coffee stain. I don’t smoke, but I love my 2 cups of coffee a day. Now, after 14 days, my teeth is less yellow and I find it healthier.

I’m sure if you want your teeth whiter than this, you can seek help from a dentist. Nano Whitewash provide clinically approved aid as well.

Nano Whitewash Dental Care
The complete Nano Range

Well, after using this Nano Range for a month, I can safely say that my teeth are brighter. Though I pay more now for my home oral care, I look at it as an investment and my health should be priority. Besides, I can smile brighter too.
