Welcome to the dark side! Technically, winter is not over yet so why not indulge yourself over these dark blends? I’ve always thought it’s a challenge to look good with a purple lipstick because I’ve a yellow skin tone. In fact, a purple lipstick is suitable for all skin tone (light, medium and dark). All you need is just the right shade for yourself.

If this is your first time trying a purple lipstick, my tip is to start with a lighter shade. You’ll probably find it more acceptable rather than leaning towards the dark side immediately. Go to the nearest Sephora store (for high-end brands) or Watsons (for drugstores affordable range) and spend about 30 minutes or more to browse through some purple shades from a few brands.

Here are 7 purple lipsticks which I’ve tried and swear upon. They’re my current favorites and really, I couldn’t point out one which I like better than another. Try them out and let me know which is your favorite?

2. Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color (#31 Berry Noir) RM93
This lipstick can take you far. It’ll last through meals and you hardly need to do much touch-up. It glides on smoothly and I love the intense color. I wear this on a busy day when I don’t have much time to check my makeup yet I still need to be presentable. It might be matte but it’s not dry.

3. Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color (#Your Majesty) RM107
Another winner from Bobbi Brown. This is probably the most luxurious lipstick in terms of packaging and texture. It’s rich yet very moist. Lips stayed comfortable even after removing it. I always take this for a dinner date or to an important event. If you can, splurge on this one.

4. MAC Matte Lipstick (#Heroine) RM74
This is a very unique purple. Not like the rest which lean towards burgundy but this one is literally purple. It’s a fun lipstick for day time. I’m sure it’ll look super flattering on a fair skin. You can’t really go wrong with MAC lipsticks. They’re vibrant and apply smoothly.

5. Shu Uemura Unlimited Sheer Shine (#S WN 286) RM88
If you’re a beginner to purple shades, I highly recommend this one from Shu Uemura. It definitely suits the Asian skin tone. I find them very moist and light, like it sort of melt onto your lips. The color is still also very vivid. Yet another one of my favorite day lipstick.

6. NARS Audacious Lipstick (#Charlotte) RM95
When I apply this on, the first thing I think of is going for a party! NARS rock! The look of this lipstick is very modern and the texture is rich. I wore this for a dinner date and I didn’t have to re apply it after meal.

7. BE Creative Makeup Intense Lipstick (#016 – Crazy) RM50.30
Another awesome moisturizing lipstick that glides on so smoothly, leaving such an intense color on the lips. This might not be a very popular brand here in Malaysia but you should definitely check it out at Muse by Watsons in Sunway Pyramid.
