Chinese New Year

by
Yesterday was the first day of Chinese New Year. In the lunar calendar, the Chinese usher in the new year of ram and this celebration usually last for 15 days. Prior to the new year, we usually spring clean the house, decorates it with flowers and ornaments. These ornaments are usually red (happiness & ward of evil spirit) and gold (prosperity). Actually, Rowena from Rolala Loves explained the traditions of celebrating Chinese New Year really well.
I love this festival for a few reasons:
1) To be able to have reunion dinner with my family (including my bf because he’s family too).
2) I get to eat all the junk food which I don’t usually get to because it’s seasonal (pineapple tart is one of them).
3) I’ve a reason to wear something new and of course, red in color.

If you’re celebrating Chinese New Year, I wish you 新年快乐 (Happy New Year) and  步步高升 (This year will be better than last). Do you have any friends that celebrates Chinese New Year?

It is also a tradition for married couples and parents to give their children “red packet” for good luck and to keep away the evil spirits.

Thank you for reading my blog. Wishing you a great weekend =)
