#Whereareyoufrom – Sofia, Bulgaria

by

This is my third #whereareyoufrom post now. First, I’ve brought you to Hawaii, then Vancouver and now, I’m taking you to Sofia, Bulgaria. Not many people have visited Eastern Europe and I find that there’s some untouched charm in them. Today, I’m bringing you to one of my blogger-friend’s hometown and she’s from Sofia, Bulgaria.

The Pope is a place where many people gather and meet each other.

1.  My name is Katerina and blogging from Beauty In Insanity

2.  Describe your(city, country), to someone who has never been there before.
My city is relatively nice to look at, not that much in winter, but spring comes with lots of gorgeous and beautiful cherry blossoms and the air smells of fresh greenery and ice cream. Even though the streets are very dirty and the air is polluted, it still has its own charm and appeal.

A busy and business district called The Business Park

3.  3 must-visit places in my city:

i.      Our lake called “Ariana”. You can rent a boat there or go ice skating during winter
ii.     In summer a must visit is a tavern called “Halbite” translated “Mugs” and any time of the year you can visit our Japanese restaurant “Hamachi” which serves the most delicious traditional Japanese cuisine!
iii.    And for a good night outing, the clubs RockIt, Alchohol, Angle Heart, all serve good music and good Bloody Mary.

The shopping street called Grafa and it’s translated to “The Count”. It’s one of the busiest shopping places.

4. 3 must-try food/drinks in my city/country:

i.      Our so called “rakia” alcoholic drink is an absolute must to try, will leave you happy and dazed!
ii.     For eating definitely take a spoonful of our tripe soup called “Shkembe chorba”. Most foreigners dislike it, but it’s an acquired taste like coffee. At first you hate it but then can’t live without it. Especially good for hangovers.
iii.    Yogurt – best in the world I swear!
The other side of the shopping street. Items at the Grafa are affordable and good quality.

5. Areas of things to be aware of when visiting my city/country: (i.e. pickpockets, snatch thieves, etc.)

Crazy drivers, stinky public transport and pickpockets

6. 3 must-have items in my travel luggage are:

i.       Wipes
ii.      Tablet or a book
iii.     Food!
